We also updated our laundry room a couple months ago. The laundry room didn't need too much work. Yes, I could find more things to do in there to do, but I was just excited to have a laundry room on the main floor that I wasn't all that picky in the details. We put up a cabinet, stacked washer and dryer, built a table, and hung some hooks.
Before:
The previous owners took their washer and dryer with them (pictured). We went to the store and picked out white new front loaders without really considering size. Oops. They stuck out into the laundry room a little to far for my liking. On the opposite wall there is a big closet and the whole room isn't very wide. Our solution was to stack them to provide more space.
Here they are in their big, white glory. Have loved how they function, but not the size.
During:
I researched a lot of table/storage options, but couldn't decide on one to buy. I wanted something tall so I could fold laundry on it (hard to find). And something to take up the entire space between the laundry sink and washer/dryer, so I had a fixed width to work with. Also, kind of hard to find. I ended up modifying plans that I found for a shoe cabinet and built a table.
My brother came over and helped stack the washer dryer and route the pipes and hung the cabinet. Thanks Chris!
The shell of my table. And my tools.
After!
Ahhh, much better!
Much better use of space! The only thing that we couldn't avoid is that the washer opens the left and the washer from the right. Unfortunately, opening from the left would be preferred, but the washer's door is not changeable because of the locks. I can live with it. It's not that tight of a space.
Stained top is the best
Bought some trim, mounted some hooks.
I love labelling things - can you tell?
Can't ever have too many hooks!
Best thing to ever grace the inside of my laundry baskets!
